Home BRU'd Our commitment to local music

On the air
Every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at midnight tune into WBRU for the best music from Providence and Southern New England. Bands hang out in the BRU studio as we play tracks hot off the local music presses, chat about their gigs and dish out the latest in local music news.

The Rock Hunt
Every Spring, WBRU hosts a local music competition . Local bands get to compete for great prizes in front of a panel of music industry professionals. Past winners include Zox, Monty Are I, Triangle Forest and It Was the Best of Times. Keep listening to WBRU for details about the next Rock Hunt.
Cheap Date Series
WBRU brings tons of up-and-coming national acts to Providence for low ticket prices. And we're committed to putting a local band on every one of these bills. It's our way of exposing local artists to larger audiences and giving back to the local music community. Past performers include Monty Are I, Zox, and the Bravery. If you want to play at a Cheap Date show, start by sending your music to the above address.

Concert Review: Monty Are I at Lupo's
Friday night, I made it down to our 40th Birthday Bash show at Lupo’s just in time to see The Coming Weak perform.  Dressed all in black, they showed what makes them one of the more popular local acts: catchy relatable music, a lively familiar relationship with the crowd, and a high-energy performance that left [...]
